The day has arrived! Marvel's Avengers game will launch its War for Wakanda expansion today, meaning that fans around the world can jump into the Black Panther DLC and play as this new version of T'Challa for the first time.
The Black Panther DLC is said to be the biggest update yet for Marvel's Avengers game - it adds Wakanda as a location and T'Challa as a playable character, as well as delivering a new story campaign in which Ulysses Klaue attempts to invade Wakanda.
But you might be wondering about the exact timings - after all, you'll want to know what time you need to load up the game if you want to get cracking with this new content as soon as possible.
Thankfully, lots of information regarding the Black Panther DLC launch time has been made available already, so we'll compile it all for you in our handy guide to the game. Keep on reading, then, and we'll fill you in on all the essential details.
Black Panther DLC release date
Today's the day! The Black Panther DLC for Marvel's Avengers game has a release date of Tuesday 17th August 2021, the publishers from Square Enix have confirmed, so the wait is pretty much over - you can start exploring this virtual version of Wakanda today, with the DLC due to drop at different times in different regions (see the exact details below).
What time does the Black Panther DLC go live?
If you're wondering at what time you'll be able to play the Black Panther DLC, that information has now been revealed. The publishers from Square Enix have confirmed that the Black Panther DLC in Marvel's Avengers game will go live on 17th August at 8am PT in the USA. That means, here in the UK, we should be able to play the update at around 4pm BST this afternoon. If that time changes, we'll be sure to let you know, but it seems like a sure thing at the moment.
What's the Avengers game Black Panther DLC story?
"Ulysses Klaue has made his way to Wakanda, intent on stealing Vibranium for his own selfish needs," the game's official website has said to tease the story. Thankfully, T'Challa will be there to stop him. The teasing description mentions that "Black Panther brings the Avengers and his fellow Wakandans together to defend his home from the incoming threat."
Monica Rappaccini's villainous AIM organisation will be collaborating with Klaue on this full-scale invasion of Wakanda. And as you'd expect, they're after the valuable Vibranium which Wakanda is known for.
How many hours is the Black Panther DLC?
If you're wondering how long is the Black Panther DLC in Marvel's Avengers game, the answer to that question appears to be around eight hours. When you add the Black Panther DLC to all the content that is already in the game, your total playtime to beat all the story content in Marvel's Avengers should be around 25 hours – that's according to an official PlayStation blog, which says the Black Panther DLC will bring the overall game to "a total of over 25 hours of single-player story content".
The original story campaign in the game took players just shy of 12 hours, according to the handy website How Long to Beat, while the Kate Bishop DLC took about three hours and the Clint Barton DLC took around two hours. When you add those numbers together and subtract them from the 25-hour total, that's how you work out that the Black Panther DLC should be adding around eight hours of new content. Unless our math is off!

Is the Avengers game Black Panther DLC free?
Yes! Just like all the other post-launch DLC content for Marvel's Avengers game, the Black Panther DLC will be free for anyone that already has a copy of the main game. Previous DLC chapters have focused on the Hawkeye duo of Kate Bishop and Clint Barton, but there are ambitious plans ahead. Black Panther will join the game before the end of the year, and Spider-Man is set to join the PlayStation version at some point.
Who is the Black Panther actor in Marvel's Avengers game cast?
Christopher Judge is the voice actor playing Black Panther/T'Challa in Marvel's Avengers game Black Panther DLC. Judge is best known, at least among gamers, for voicing Kratos in the God of War franchise.
In the trailers for the DLC, it certainly sounds like Judge is deploying a similar accent for the Wakandan dialect to the one that Chadwick Boseman – may he rest in power – originated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.
Judge told Entertainment Weekly, "I turned it down straight away. There's many Black Panthers, but I really didn't believe that anyone should ever do T'Challa again [after Boseman]. The actual talks proceeded and, basically, I wound up doing it because my mother and my children said if I didn't do it, they would disown me."
He added: "To be quite honest, I was fearful of being compared to what Chadwick had so wonderfully done. The only way I could really wrap my head around it was to not even attempt a voice match, to let my performance stand on its own. I put all that into it and hopefully people like it."
The Black Panther DLC cast for Marvel's Avengers game also includes Debra Wilson as Okoye, Erica Luttrell as Shuri, Dave Fennoy as Zawavari, and Steve Blum as Ulysses Klaue. Vocal coach Beth McGuire, who previously worked on the MCU's Black Panther movie, worked with each of the actors on their Wakandan accents.
